Some dogs have been through a lot, which results in triggers that we may understand, but do not know how to fix. We can help by gaining an understanding to these triggers.
We have nothing if we do not have the trust of our dogs. If they do not think we are capable of protecting them, they will not give back reactions of progress. This means that this class consists 100% of pet parent only training. As the CCG behaviorist, we will guide, but we will not engage physically once the pet parent can mirror the tools. The CCG behaviorists will stand on the sidelines to help demonstrate, but the pet parent will guide their own dog 100%. Where safety is concerned, the CCG behaviorist will intervene.
Just like humans, we can only use coping mechanisms to help us with our daily stressors. If we're tired after a long day, we may settle down with a good book, some wine, or other therapeutic activities. This goes the same for our dogs and their triggers. To train on behavior, we need to make sure these coping mechanisms are fail proof. To achieve this goal, we can't skip steps.
If you made it past Step 3 for coping mechanisms, then Step 4 is where you practice every day to sustain the behavioral modifications we have taught your dog. This part will require an extensive 3 day elbow to elbow training method. Once everyone is comfortable in a routine, this will be the graduating level for the modified behavior.
We live in a world where liability is a common theme when dealing with safety. The behaviorists at Canine Consulting Group will follow the strict curriculum in helping your dog, but we do not have the ability to help day to day training, non-trainer interactions and socializations, and other out of scope encounters. If we practice for 3 hours during training sessions, it is expected of the owner to practice the other waking moments with their dog.
The following contract packet includes the understanding of continuous training schedules between CCG and the client. The packet also includes the acknowledgement that gaps in training will cause delays and back steps. Lastly, the contract includes no-charge sessions for further behavioral modifications that may have developed suddenly.
